Palm Sunday and the Annual Way of the Cross at St Joseph Vaz Church, Mudipu
Palm Sunday which marks the beginning of the Holy Week for the Christian community. The occasion denotes the arrival of Jesus at Jerusalem. On his arrival, disciples of Jesus had extended him a grand welcome by waving palm leaves which denotes victory of the good over the evil. This event is usually enacted in several places, when devotees with freshly cut coconut leaves in hands walk saying prayers and singing hymns. Fr. Cyril lobo along with Fr Benjamin Pinto led the Eucharistic celebrations in mudipu church.
The annual way of the cross organized by St Joseph Vaz Church, Mudipu took place with great devotion on March 28, 2021 at 3pm by following Covid-19 guidelines. The Way of the cross proceeded from St Joseph Vaz Church to the Shrine. Rev. Fr Praveen Leo Lasrado, Professor St joseph seminary Mangalore, Fr. Sunil Veigas Parish priest Fajir and Fr. Cyril Lobo conducted this devotion. During this devotion, he specially prayed for all our families though this year is declared as family year.
Having reached St Joseph Vaz Shrine after the Way of Cross, Fr. Cyril Lobo Reflected on the passion of Christ and gave blessings of the holy worship. Rev. Fr Benjamin Pinto thanked all those who helped in organizing the way of the cross. Dean priests, Sr. Jaquina Dias, Mr. Naveen Dsouza, vice president Parish pastoral council, Dr. Irene veigas Secretary PPC were present and many pilgrims gathered to witness this spiritual event.
