Maundy Thursday – 01/04/2021
Maundy Thursday is the day we remember three gifts of our Lord. The gift of the Eucharist, The gift of Priesthood, The gift of Service the Holy Eucharist, was celebrated on the 1st April, 2021 at 5:00pm. Rev Fr Benjamin Pinto, Parish Priest was the main celebrant and Rev Fr. Cyril Lobo was the co-celebrant during the mass.
In the sermon Fr. Cyril Lobo explained how Jesus Christ had set an example to each one of us by washing the feet of his disciple. He emphasized on the role that priests play in building the church and uniting its people through faith and prayer.
As a symbolic gesture and as a tradition to commemorate Jesus' selfless act of washing his disciples' feet, Rev Fr. Benjamin Pinto washed the feet of the twelve chosen parishioners. Special communion distribution ministers renew their oath. After the mass Adoration was conducted by Fr. Cyril Lobo.
Passion of Christ (Good Friday) – 02/04/2021
Good Friday is a Christian holy day commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ It is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday. The service included the reading of the Passion of Christ, reciting a string of prayers, unveiling and veneration of the Cross and communion service.
Good Friday evening Vigilance was observed at St Joseph Vaz Church Mudipu, on 2 April 2021 at 4:00pm. Rev Fr. Cyril Lobo offered the mass and Rev Fr. Benjamin Pinto Parish priest was the co-celebrant. During the prayer service priest prayed for various intensions.
Easter Celebration - 03/04/2021
After 40 days of the Lenten Season, including the Holy Week the Christian fraternity celebrated Easter with joy and fervour. The celebration started at 7.00pm at St Joseph Vaz Church Mudipu. Parish Priest Rev Fr. Benjamin pinto celebrated the Holy Eucharist along with Fr Cyril lobo. Before the festive mass all the lights were switched off at the church. Fr. Benjamin pinto lighted the Easter Candle from the “New Fire” and carried it to the Altar in a procession. As the candle was taken down the aisle, parishioners lit the candles from the flame, illuminating the area in candle light. Water was blessed and the Holy water was then sprinkled on all those present.
Fr Cyril Lobo sang the Easter Hymn. Five readings from the Sacred Scriptures gave a glimpse of the salvation story of Israel and mankind in general. Fr Cyril Lobo in his homily highlighted on the Importance of Easter. Parish priest delivered the vote of thanks and wished all the parishioners a very happy Easter. Muddom candles were Distributed and Mudipuchi Zor Quiz winners prize were distributed and honoured Mr. Ashley Dsouza for scoring good rank in GATE exam. “Mudipuchi Zor” Easter issue - 2021 was released during the occasion. Sr. Jaquina Dias, superior Mr. Naveen Dsouza, Vice president parish pastoral council, Dr. Irene veigas secretary were present.
