“Azadi ka amrut mahotsav”
“Nation first always first." The fight to gain independence was long, difficult, and cost many brave lives. India is celebrating its 75th Independence Day and Feast of Assumption of Mary on 15th August 2021. On this special day ICYM Mudipu, Parish council, Parish Priest, and Assistant Parish priest celebrated Independence Day in the church premises of St Joseph's Vaz Church Mudipu.
On this special occasion, the program started with flag hosting by Rev. Fr. Assisi Rebello, Parish Priest St Joseph Vaz Church Mudipu. Rev. Fr. Richard D'Souza, Assistant Parish priest addressed the gathering appealing to their nationalistic spirit and urging them to take pride in being an Indian and fulfilling one's duty with responsibility.
This was followed by cleaning the bus stand by ICYM members. Youths cleaned the surrounding, repainted, and instructed the public to maintain cleanliness by writing up the quotes on the walls of the bus stand.
Mr. Naveen D’Souza, Vice President of Parish council, Dr. Irene Veigas, Secretary of Parish council, Sr. Joaquina Dias, Superior Holy Family of Nazareth Convent, Mr. Santhosh Deepak, Animator ICYM, were present. Ashwin D'Souza, President ICYM welcomed the gathering, Mishal Fernandes, Secretary ICYM delivered the vote of thanks and Mischelle compered the program.
