Silver Jubilee Programme inaugurated : Elders day Celebrated at St Joseph Vaz Church, Mudipu
Silver jubilee programmes of St Joseph Vaz church Mudipu were symbolically inaugurated on 20th February 2022 by unveiling the banner. Rev. Fr. Anil Alfred Dsouza Director FLSC & guardian of St Zuze Vaz home, Jeppu inaugurated the first programme of the jubilee year that is elders day. He presided over the Eucharistic celebration in the morning at 10:30am in the church, in his homily Fr. Anil said that, "the elders must do good to the caretakers in the family following the teachings of Jesus namely due to others that he would like to be done by others he gave a call to elders to forgive all those people who hurt them in their daily lives he motivated the elders to accept the problems of ageing and to surrender Jesus in prayer and supplication. Rev Fr. Assisi Rebello the Parish priest, Fr Richard Dsouza Asst Parish priest concelebrated the Eucharist. Prior to the Eucharistic celebrations confessions were held for the elderly.
This was followed by the formal programme held at church hall presided over by Rev Fr Assisi Rebello the Parish priest along with Rev Fr Anil Alfred Dsouza the Chief guest, Fr. Richard Dsouza Asst parish priest, Sr Jaquina Dias Superior of the Holy family of Nazareth Convent, Mr. Naveen Dsouza vice president PPC, Dr. Irene Veigas Secretary PPC , Mr. Marcel Dsouza Convener Silver Jubilee Committee, Mr. Leo Dsouza Secretary Silver Jubilee Committee, Mr. Anil Roshan Dsouza Coordinator of Parish Pastoral Commission . Fr Anil in his chief guest address said that the elderly must endeavor suffering in patience and spend time in praying the rosary, fill the mind with positive thoughts that will help to age gracefully. Fr Assisi Rebello in his presidential said the age is not a barrier to lead a peaceful life everyday we must think that i am better than yesterday spend more time in prayer growing wisdom and think positively .
The parents of priests and religious of the parish were felicitated by the guest, all elders were given a momento. And shall speaking on the behalf of elders Mr. Michael Dsouza
appreciated the programme of honouring the elders and requested to continue this programme every year. Mr. Santhosh Dsouza convener youth commission welcomed the gathering , Mr. Leo Dsouza Secretary silver jubilee committee proposed vote of thanks, Mr. Anil Roshan Dsouza Coordinator Parish pastoral compered the programme. All the elders were served with delicious food prepared by the parishioners under the leadership of 9 gurkars.
